At PK Safety, we are proud to support Men’s Health Week 2025, an important national campaign focused on raising awareness of men’s health issues and encouraging positive action.
MHW was created to:
- Raise awareness of preventable health problems that disproportionately affect men.
- Encourage men to engage with their health early.
- Promote healthy lifestyles through education, screenings, and support.
We Need a Men’s Health Strategy
This year’s theme focuses on the urgent need for a dedicated national strategy to tackle rising rates of:
- Early death in men (1 in 5 dies before age 65)
- Suicide (3 out of 4 suicides are men)
- Late diagnosis of cancer and chronic conditions
It’s time for men’s health to be recognised, resourced, and prioritised.
Why It Matters
Men across the UK face significant health challenges and are statistically more likely to suffer from preventable conditions such as heart disease, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, and certain types of cancer. Mental health is another critical concern, with men being far less likely to seek help and suicide continuing to be the leading cause of death for men under 50.
These aren’t just statistics — they reflect a broader need for awareness, early intervention, and cultural change in how we view and support men’s wellbeing.
What We Can Do – As Colleagues and Teams
Creating a supportive workplace environment plays a vital role in improving health outcomes. Here’s how we can collectively make a difference:
- Encourage regular health check-ups: Early detection saves lives. Whether it’s booking a GP appointment, checking in with a mental health professional, or by mental health phonelines (see links below) — prevention is key.
- Normalise conversations about wellbeing: Promoting a culture where it’s safe to speak openly about physical and mental health helps break down stigma.
- Lead by example: Managers and team leaders are encouraged to model healthy behaviours and support a balanced approach to work and life.
- Join activities: Keep an eye out for Men’s Health Week events and initiatives taking place across the business — from webinars to wellbeing walks.
Stronger Together
Health and wellbeing don’t happen in isolation. By fostering an environment of understanding, respect, and collaboration, we help create a culture where all employees — including men — feel supported and encouraged to think about their health and wellbeing.
Let’s use this week as an opportunity to reflect, engage, and continue building a healthier, more inclusive workplace — together.
